Last week all of the classes in key stage 1 took part in elections to vote for their new Squirrels Council representatives. Children who wished to be considered wrote statements telling their classmates why they should vote for them. They then held anonymous votes to ensure that we made choices based upon what the candidates told us about themselves, rather than voting for our friends. This week we had an official Council handover during assembly. We thanked the previous Councillors for their hard work and contributions and welcomed our new Councillors.
We are looking forward to seeing what they can achieve during this term.
Our Year 2 children have had a great week learning how to keep themselves safe if they are scooting or cycling. Our instructor Lisa helped us to think about things such as which side of the pavement is safest, looking out for vehicles and pedestrians and making sure we can always see our adult. The children received high praise from Lisa; their listening skills and behaviour were exemplary. When questioned back in class about what they had learned, they were all able to share something that will help them to keep safe. Well done Year 2 for demonstrating our Squirrels Core Values!
