The Jellyfish by Michael Rosen

The jellyfish dances through the

water waving it's frilly

underwear!

 

We found one on the beach. It

had become a polythene bag 

full of water.

 

Its frills lay on top like party

ribbons after the dance is over.

 

Terms and their definitions used in today's lesson

Metaphor: A word or phrase for one thing that is used to refer to another thing in order to show or suggest that they are similar. An example from the poem - It (the jellyfish) had become a polythene bag full of water.

 

Simile: A figure of speech that expresses a resemblance between things of different kinds (usually formed with 'like' or 'as'). An example from the poem - Its frills lay on top like party ribbons
