School Closure - Strike Action Wednesday 1st February
Wed 25 Jan 2023Please see the below information sent out via School Ping on 23rd January regarding strike action:
We write to update you on the current national situation regarding strike action by the teaching union, NEU. Teaching unions have been campaigning for many months for organised strikes for teachers regarding pay and conditions, school funding and funding and provision for pupils with special educational needs. All of these impact significantly upon our staff, the provision for our pupils and the financial position of the school. In their latest ballot, NEU union members voted in favour of strike action on the following dates in this region:
Wednesday 1st February
Thursday 2nd March
Wednesday 15th and Thursday 16th March
We are getting in touch to give you notice that learning may be disrupted on these days and that you therefore need to consider alternative childcare arrangements for these dates. After very careful consideration and undertaking a risk assessment, we have no alternative but to close the school to pupils on Wednesday 1st February. Pupil safety and wellbeing is a priority and we are unable to provide adequate staffing on this day. We are working closely with our staff union representatives to keep up to date with the situation, and will update you as soon as we can regarding the further 3 proposed dates. There is no requirement for schools to teach the curriculum on strike days but there will be suggested enrichment activities available on your child’s google classroom for you to access. As during Covid, schools are advised, where possible, to accommodate their most vulnerable pupils and we will make contact with the families we currently support individually. Our dedicated and hardworking team are committed to your children’s education but on this occasion have made a brave decision to stand with their union. This decision has not been taken lightly as closing school is always a last resort. As always we anticipate your support and we ask that, any concerns or problems you may have because of the school closure are addressed directly to the Head Teacher.

School Streets Restrictions on Salisbury Road
Fri 23 Sep 2022Please remember that we are part of the School Streets scheme in Havering. A school street is where vehicle access is restricted outside a school during drop off and pick up times. This creates a safe space for parents and pupils to walk and cycle safely to and from school.
Under the scheme you cannot enter Salisbury Road between 8am and 9.30am and also between 2.30pm and 4pm.
